MSGT. Larry Dean Walker USAF Retired, 82, of Sanford passed away Friday March 22, 2019 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington. Larry was born September 22, 1936 in La Crosse, KS. He served in the United States Air Force in South America, Germany, Vietnam and England. He retired after 20 years of service in Austin, TX in 1974. Larry also worked for Tracor Aerospace and retired as Master Planner. He and his wife, Arlene moved to Carolina Lakes in 1998 where he was involved in volunteer work in the community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Arlene Walker of the home; sister, Sherry Holmes and husband Homer of Texas; brothers-in-law, Robert Warne of Nebraska, Roger Warne of Colorado; niece, Carrie Tucker and family of Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday March 27, 2019 at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington with Rev. Dr. Jerome Smith officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spring Hill United Methodist Church, 1960 Spring Hill Church Rd., Lillington, NC 27546 or the charity of one’s choice.

Daniel Herman “Buck” Cox Jr, 79 of Holly Ridge, formerly of Sanford, passed away Tuesday March 19, 2019. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday March 24th at Spring Hill United Methodist Church, 1960 Spring Hill Church Rd, Lillington, NC 27546.
Mr. Cox was born in Harnett Co, a son of the late Daniel Herman Cox and Gonza Lee Keeler Cox. In his early years Buck was a Constable in Lee County and later sold mobile homes. After his retirement he and Hellen moved to Holly Ridge.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Hellen Strickland Cox; his children, Danny Cox and wife Dee, Cindy Cox and husband Curtis Baker, and Annette Erny and husband Darrell; grandchildren, Kane Cauthen, Dalton Cox and Dylan Cox; great-grandchildren, Kana Cauthen, Brody Cauthen, and Marley Cauthen; siblings, Shelda Rice, Rhea and Frank Martinez, Edna Purtell, Vernon and Gwenn Cox, and Rita Crisco. Buck was preceded in death by a sister, Nita Korenek and a brother, Mickey Cox.

Betty Holder Brown, 71, of Lillington went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday morning, March 16.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ither and Mina Holder; brothers Bill and Donald Holder of Lillington; sisters Lynda Clark of Lillington, Lee Etta Barefoot of Broadway, Inez Mangum of Lillington, and Beatrice Holder of Sanford. Surviving are husband of forty-six years, Billy Ray Brown; and daughter, Donna Haeck of Lillington; grandson, Justin Haeck of Lillington; sister-in-law, Connie Rosser and husband Jerry of Broadway; brothers, Oscar Holder of Lillington, and Earl Holder and wife, Jeanette of Broadway; sister, Shirley Holder of Lillington; and sister-in-law, Linda Holder of Lillington; special friends, Jon and David Patterson who were like her sons; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was an avid deer hunter and loved the outdoors, bingo, gardening and especially her family and friends. She was loved by so many.
A visitation will be held at 2:30-3:45 pm Tuesday, March 19 at Spring Hill UMC. Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm in the church. Burial will be following the service at the Holder Family Cemetery.
